Winter Beer Tasting

What: An evening of beer hosted by two men who know their beers, Transcend founder Poul Mark, who is a level three certified WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) wine evaluator, and Transcend Manager, Chuck Elves.
Why: Beer in a coffee shop? We’ll drink to that! Taste complex ales and stouts perfect for the chilly Why: holiday season.

Real Slick
Refinery Late Night Party
What: Inspired by the current exhibition EDWARD BURTYNSKY: OIL, this party is all about entertainment, art, local talent and drinks.
Why: Contribute to the ongoing installation piece using your own ‘carbon footprint’.
Where: Art Gallery of Alberta. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
When: Saturday, Nov 20 from 9pm – 2am.

Get Smart
Festival of Ideas

What: A festival dedicated to forging interconnections between science and the arts. This year’s theme is provocative “Truth and Lies: Trust Me”.
Why: It’s a festival of intriguing topics and brilliant minds - David Sedaris, Jared Diamond, José G. Funes, S.J. (some serious name dropping). There’s debates, talks, hands-on activites, dancing, and a rap guide to evolution.
Where: All over Edmonton. Some events are free and some require tickets.
When: Tuesday, Nov 16 – Sunday, Nov. 21. Complete schedule.

Homes for the Holidays
What: Tour five beautiful homes decorate for the holidays by Edmonton’s top design talent.
Why: Be inspired to transform your house and raise money for the Kids Help Phone and Junior League of Edmonton.When: Friday, Nov 19 to Sunday, Nov 21. Tickets are $32 each.

Handmade Mafia
What: Over 30 local crafters, designer and makers of pretty things gather to celebrate the holidays with the art of handmade
: Shop to live music and hit up the bake sale!

Young at Art
WeeStock 2010 Holiday Edition

A shopping extravaganza for families with babies and toddlers featuring goods from local boutiques and independent-owned businesses.
Workshops and activities for kids and parents while you buy from local businesses. First 50 get a swag bag.
