The ARTery Block Party
What: A garage sale featuring art, surplus tools and supplies.
Why: Meet local artists and craftspeople. Arrive in the morning for a pancake breakfast and return at night for the BBQ.

Edmonton International Theater Fringe Festival
What: North America’s largest and oldest  fringe with 160 productions and over 1,200 performances.
Why: Smart Edmontonians take a couple of weeks off work to Fringe. This festival is that good.
Where: 39 venues throughout Old Strathcona. For all the details, pick up a Program Guides ($6) available at Safeway, Audreys Books, Wee Book Inn, TIX on the Square or online.
When: Thursday, August 12 – Sunday, August 22. Get your tickets.

Singin' the Blues
Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival

What: Blues and nothin’ but the blues – a party for 3,000 blues loving fans.Why: A talented line-up of performers including Grammy winners and Blues Music Award winners.
Where: Heritage Amphitheatre, Hawrelak Park (map).
When: Friday, August 20 – Sunday, August 22. Get your tickets.

Paddles Up!
Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival
What: Watch 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerperson paddle their way down the North Saskatchewan River.
Why: Team chants, drums, beer gardens and stage entertainment.
