Chinese New Years
What: Celebrate Chinese New Years across Edmonton.
Why: The year will be 4709 and it’s all about the Rabbit.
Firecrackers Street Celebration features street performances, lion dances, a dragon dance and thousands of firecrackers. Takes place on Saturday, Feb 5 from 11:30am-2:30pm inChinatown (97 Street from 105 to 107 Avenue). The Chinese New Year Carnival takes place in Edmonton City Centre Mall (102 St - 102 Ave) on Saturday, Feb 5 from 11am-4pm. Performances include the traditional dragon dance, lion dances, drumming, demonstrations, costume parade, Chinese musical instruments, and colorful cultural dances.
Love Winter Yet?
What: Light, stories, music and old-fashioned winter fun.
Why: Reflective of its neighbourhood, this new winter festival is infused with culture – African drumming and music, Italian food, Asian New Year display, latern parade and more fun!
Don’t forget: Share the warmth – bring a mitten or take a mitten.
