Annual Festival Volunteer Fair
What: Your opportunity to find your perfect volunteering match. Chat it up with festivals like Fringe, Street Performers, NextFest, and lesser-known festivals like Heart of the City and Animethon.
Why: Let’s power this great city of ours; the Fringe alone needs 35,000 volunteer hours!
Where: City Hall (1 Sir Winston Churchill Square)
When: Thursday, May 12 from 11am to 7pm.

Handmade Revolution
Make It Edmonton
What: It’s party-vibe craft show with a DJ spinning and over 100 Canadian urban artists and designers. At Make It you will only find cool, innovative and stylish items that generally fall into the fashion, art, accessories, jewelry and home decor categories.
Where: Alberta Aviation Museum (11410 Kingsway Avenue), $5 at the door.
When: Friday, May 13 (4pm to 9pm), Saturday, May 14 (11am to 6pm), and Sunday, May 15 (11am to 5pm).

Speak Easy
Taste of Argentina
What: Raise funds for the Edmonton Jazz Festival Society by sipping over 150 full bodied and savory Argentinean wines. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and live music.
Why: Edmonton loves its jazz as evident by the amazing auction items donated by the Edmonton community.
Where: Sutton Place Hotel (10235 101 Street). Tickets $68.
When:  Friday, May 13 at 7pm.

Hello, Spring!
Bedding Plant Sale
What: The Muttart Conservatory’s Annual Bedding Plant Sale: planters, hanging baskets, Martha Washington Geraniums, grasses, flowers and vegetables are all on sale.
Why: The staff at the Muttart has lovingly tended to these plants to ensure you’ll get high quality, healthy, and robust plants for your garden this season. Plus, growers will be on hand to answer all your questions.
Where: Muttart Conservatory (9626 – 96A Street). Please go to the greenhouses at the rear of the Conservatory.
When: Saturday, May 14 – Sunday, May 15 from 9am-5pm

Bicycle Love
Tune & Cruise
What: Have a shiny new bike (or old dusty bike) begging to be taken for a ride? Get more comfortable riding your bike and learn some basic bicycle maintenance from bike mechanics.
Why: Once your bike is ready to go, Dr. Karen Fox, associate professor in the Physical Education & Recreation Faculty, will lead a guided cruise of the river valley!
Where: University of Alberta Campus, Quad
When: Saturday, May 14 from 2pm-4:30 p.m.

Give and Let Live
What: A night of live music in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, as well as a silent auction and twitter auction.
Why: Yummy appies, a costume contest, great people and an even better cause.
Where: LUX Steakhouse & Bar in Commerce Place (101 St 101 Avenue). Tickets $50.
When: Saturday, May 14th, 2011, Live music starts at 8:00pm DJ at 9:00pm.

Sweet Charity
Beauty and the Pleats
What: A silent auction beauty-nanza to benefit Edmonton’s Suit Yourself, a charitable organization that collects and distributes professional clothing to low income women who are seeking employment or transitioning into the workforce.
Why: Makeup demonstrations, swag bags, beauty baskets, mimosas and cupcakes by Crave.
Where: LUX Beauty Boutique (12531-102 Avenue). Tickets are $10.
When: Sunday, May 15 from 11am-5pm
