Common Threads Fashion Event
What:  Sip a summer cocktail while watching models strut the runway featuring clothing for men and women from Gravity Pope Tailored Goods, The Bamboo Ballroom and Foosh.
Why: Dress to impress and show-off in the Photobooth.

TEDxEdmonton 2011 Pre-Party
What: Hangout with fun, creative and passionate TEDx fans. (note: TEDx is an independently organized TED event devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading)
Why: TEDXEdmonton (Saturday, June 11) sold out fast – this might be your only chance to get in on the action!
Where: Suede Lounge (11806 Jasper Avenue), Tickets $15 (includes cover, appetizers and speakers)

Charming India ( and Yourself!)
Hidden Gems Event

What: A three-day event with a schedule of sessions designed to delight challenge, inform and entertain.
Why: Move your body with yoga, pilates, belly dancing and Indian dance. Tempt your palate with fine wines and artisan cheese. There’s a voice workshop, numerology session, and so much more! Purchase your Commitment Book ($15 in-advance, $20 at the door) for tickets to the weekend’s activities. All proceeds go to support i-India – a charity for street children.
Where: Maggie’s Fashion Underground (11217 Jasper Avenue).  You can drop-in anytime throughout the weekend, no reservations required.

Hot Cakes & Joe
Pancake Breakfast
What: A yummy pancake breakfast put on by the Downtown Edmonton Community League.
It’s only a toonie and all proceeds are donated to E4C’s Edmonton School Lunch Program. Go for pancakes and stay for the farmer’s market.

Summer Block Party
Al Fresco 104th Street Block Party
A street bash dedicated to the best of fashion, wine, food, music and urban atmosphere. Head to the party to enjoy deVine’s wine tasting tent, a city yoga demonstration, two stages, and licensed patios sprawling onto the street.
Last year it was so packed with fabulous people, the restaurants ran out of food and creatively began inventing new delicious dishes on the fly.

: There’s a fashion show featuring local boutiques and salons.

A River Runs Through It
Celebrate the River Valley
What: Celebrate the North Saskatchewan River Valley with freestyle Frisbee demos, bike demos, ice cream, face painting and more.  Ride in voyageur canoe or learn how to fish. Be sure to pick up you free trail map.
Why: Over 21 times the size of New York’s Central Park, the river valley is due for a little recognition.

Parading to Celebrate 
Edmonton Pride Parade
Edmonton’s Pride Parade takes a stroll through downtown to arrive at the celebration on the Square.
Why: This year marks 30 years of celebrating pride in Edmonton – and it’s always loud, fun and outrageous.
Begins on 102 Avenue and 108th Street. Travels east on 102 Avenue all the way to Churchill Square.

Where Art Thou?

What: 400 artists. 50 events. 11 days.
Why:  A celebration of young emerging artists in the disciplines of theater, dance, film and visual arts.
Where: List of the performance arts and visual art venues. Buy your tickets – all shows $10, day passes $18, festival pass $40.
