Edmonton International Theatre Fringe Festival

What: North America’s largest and oldest  fringe with 160 productions and over 1,200 performances. (p.s. it’s a birthday year for the Fringe; it’s celebrating 30 years!)
Why:  Smart Edmontonians take a couple of weeks off work to Fringe. This festival is that good.
Where: 39 venues throughout Old Strathcona. For all the details, pick up a Program Guides ($6) available at Safeway, Audreys Books, Greenwoods Bookshoppe, TIX on the Square or online. Get your tickets.

Style Stroll
L2 Style Weekend Walkabout
What: Shop handpicked, local boutiques with the talented style consultant, Lazina McKenzie.
Why: Fabulous boutiques, style advice and generously offered discounts from the retailers.
Where: 124th Street - the tour starts at Floc Boutique (10106 124th Street). Register for event.
When: Saturday, August 13 from 9:30am-12pm

Art 4 the Alley
Alley of Light
What: An alley transformed into a creative destination with music, lantern making, painting and a film screening (This is Berlin, Not New York).
Why: It’s these types of events that make Edmonton’s downtown sparkle.
Where: In an Alley! (1/2 a block North of Jasper Ave, between Beaver Hills House Park and 103 Street). Full schedule.
When: Saturday, August 13 from 1pm-11pm

 Hot Tomato
Tomato Fare

What: A feast dedicated to culinary delights celebrating the tomato! Half the recipes will incorporate the tomato.
Why: Talented regional chefs take tomatoes seriously pairing with organic meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables.
Where: Salisbury Greenhouse (52337 RR 232, Sherwood Park). Advance tickets are $15 and includes 4 TASTE! Tickets. Limited number of tickets at the door ($20).
When: Sunday, August 14 from 4-8pm

Et tu, Par-tay?
Edmonton Latin Festival
What: Two days of Latin heritage celebration. Live entertainment, Latin food and free Latin dance lessons like Zumba, Salsa, Tango & Samba.
Why: Experience the tastes, sounds and sights of Hispanic culture.
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
When: Saturday, August 13 & Sunday, August 14
