Strathcona Fire Department Working to Raise Money and Awareness

This September marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, and rural Philadelphia. In recognition of this important anniversary, Strathcona Fire Department is partnering with Average Joe’s All Star Bar in Sherwood Park to host a pub night/silent auction on August 19 to raise money for the families of those affected by the 9/11 attacks.

Tickets for the fundraising event are $10.00 per person at the door, with 100% of money going toward the charity. Your ticket includes an appetizer buffet, dunk tank, long drive competition, and inclusion in the silent auction.

In addition to raising money, the Fire Department also hopes to raise awareness for the anniversary by sending two firefighter hockey teams to represent Strathcona County at the World Police and Fire Games, which are being held in New York City later this month. The international tournament, which is held every two years, is expected to surpass the Summer Olympics as the largest multi-sporting event in the world with over 20,000 competitors representing 70 nations.
