Next time you walk around downtown Edmonton imagine transforming dark, hidden alleyways and empty, ugly parking lots into hearts of creativity.
This is exactly the vision that transpired in the alley just north of Jasper Avenue between 103rd Street & 104th Street. Organizers staged an impromptu art gallery, a film screening and lit the alley with lanterns carefully crafted by anybody who sat down at the long community table. And those industrial dumpsters transformed into stages for local bands.
Puts a rather new twist on the downtown playground concept, doesn't it?
And, I loved it.
These types of initiatives have me cheering about the city Edmonton can (and will) become.
A sincere thanks to the ‘Alley of Light’ organizers who had the vision to transform an alley into a place of light, creativity and community.
