FASHION Magazine presented a round-up of Alberta’s top 10 style bloggers. Delighted to see Edmonton-based style bloggers make the cut: Janis, Kassandra, Sandy, Alyssa, Marie and Vickie.

These newbies to the Edmonton style bloggin' scene are really rockin' it (bookmark their sites now!): Haute Heels and A Clean, Well-Lit Style Blog.

Refinery 29 featured 5 shows they loved from Toronto Fashion Week including Edmonton's Sid Neigum. The local designer "introduced a cross sexual and modern gothic collection. Like an homage to '80s Comme des Garcon, Neigum introduces an explosion of wearable pieces in variations of sand, black, and white."

Caroline Gault’s impressive resume (Alberta Editor for FASHION Magazine and Edmonton Contributor to Vitamin Daily) just dazzled us with her newest appointment covering the best parties in Edmonton. SocialSeen will be a weekly, FULL-PAGE feature in the Edmonton Journal.

BIG, big news for Edmonton fashion designers! Mercedes-Benz Start-Up is a national program to nurture Canada’s next generation of fashion designers. They are scouting designers in Edmonton. Up for grabs is the opportunity to show their collections as part of the official schedule of World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. Plus, the winner will receive an editorial spread in FASHION, mentorship from industry experts and huge media exposure.  For designers in Western Canada, the event takes place right here in E-D-M-O-N-T-O-N on April 16 & 17. An incredible opportunity for Edmonton to flaunt its designer talents.

In case you missed the announcement: J. Crew will be opening at West Edmonton Mall (this spring!) The 5,657-square-foot store will be located on level two between Banana Republic and H&M. Also opening soon at West Edmonton Mall: Simons and True Religion. In footwear news, it’s back to the grunge styling of the ‘90s with the opening of Dr. Marten while soon-to-open Camper will deliver the architectural lifestyle shoes. Rounding out the shoe stores set to open is Steve Madden. If you love Forever 21 start cheering; this store is doubling its current size to over 44,000 square feet.

Paper Crown, Lauren Conrad’s designs for those who like to play dress up in a grown-up world, is now available at Shades of Grey on 124 Street.

Coup Boutique continues to impress with introduction of the following labels: Raquel Allegra, Jenni Kayne and La Fee Verte.

Edmonton Fashion Happenings

Sweat of our Brow features the talents of the University of Alberta Student Design Association. This exhibit featuring industrial design, product design and style closes on March 31. The space will then be converted to showcase the graduating show, Giant Step, for the Bachelor of Design (April 3-14).

Western Canada Fashion Week Spring/Summer Collections 2012 will take place Thursday, March 29 to Thursday, April 5. Janis put together a great guide to Western Canada Fashion Week. Offshores Swim and Sun Wear is hosting a big “reveal” grand opening and fashion show on Wednesday, April 4. The shop stocks the best designer bikinis, gorgeous patterned one-pieces and beach sexy cover-ups. If you’ve spotted a swimsuit on a celebrity, Offshores is your best bet for the find. The store recently re-located to Commerce Place.

The Spirit of Spring Fashion Show & Luncheon takes place on Sunday, April 22. This fundraiser for McDougal House, a home of hope and healing, will feature fashions from C’est Sera, gravitypope Tailored Goods, Oak+Fort, TK Clothing, Who Cares Wear and more.
