The Village of the Fringed

Edmonton International Fringe Festival
What: A festival of independent theatre. In fact, North America’s largest and oldest fringe with 216 productions. 

Why:  Smart Edmontonians take a couple of weeks off work to Fringe. This festival is that good.
Where: 52 venues throughout Old Strathcona. For all the details, pick up a Program Guides ($7) available at Safeway, Audreys Books, Greenwoods Bookshoppe, TIX on the Square or online.

Paddles Up!

Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival
What: Watch paddlers, a drummer and steerperson paddle their way across Telford Lake.
Why: Team chants, drums, beer gardens and stage entertainment.
Where: Telford Lake in Leduc (map) (moved from North Saskatchewan River due to water conditions)
When: Friday, August 17 – Sunday, August 19


A Little Bit of Broadway
Jersey Boys
What: A group of boys from the wrong side of the tracks who become one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time.
Why: Feel like you’re in New York for an evening at this countless award-winning musical
Where: Jubilee Auditorium, 11455-87 Ave (Tickets here)
When: Eighteen shows between August 15 – September 2

Rock and Roll in the Park
Edmonton Rock Music Festival
What: Second annual festival devoted to preserve and promote the music that influenced history and makes you want to rock out
Why: Blue Oyster Cult (some cow bell to cure your fever), April Wine, and Trooper to name a few
Where: Hawrelak Park, Tickets $39 - $59
When: Friday (gates at 4:00pm) and Saturday (gates at 11:00am)

Vibrant Churchill Square
Edmonton Latin Festival
What: The Edmonton Hispanic Cultural Society hosts live Latin music, dancing, and food in Churchill Square
Why: We repeat: Live Latin music, dancing, and food!
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
: Saturday and Sunday, noon to 11pm
