Edmonton International Fringe Festival
What: A festival of independent theatre. In fact, North America’s largest and oldest fringe with 216 productions.
Why: Smart Edmontonians take a couple of weeks off work to Fringe. This festival is that good.
Where: 52 venues throughout Old Strathcona. For all the details, pick up a Program Guides ($7) available at Safeway, Audreys Books, Greenwoods Bookshoppe, TIX on the Square or online. Get your tickets.

Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival
What: Watch paddlers, a drummer and steerperson paddle their way across Telford Lake.
Why: Team chants, drums, beer gardens and stage entertainment.
Where: Telford Lake in Leduc (map) (moved from North Saskatchewan River due to water conditions)
