How fun is this? You can ride the historic fleet of street cars from the heart of Old Strathcona along the top of the High Level Bridge to Jasper Ave! A round trip ticket is only $5, and the view is priceless (hello, Mastercard commercial).

The street cars served to connect Edmonton and Strathcona from 1908 to 1951. It was famous for being the highest street car crossing around. This was a true Make Something Edmonton project: In 1979, the street car was brought back for a special occasion. With such a positive response, volunteers worked for many years to rebuilt power lines and infrastructure, fix up street cars, and brought them back into regular service across the entire line in 1997. Read more of the interesting history here or take a walk through the Street Car Museum in Old Strathcona.

For the remainder of the season, the street car will be running on weekends only (approximately every 40 minutes - schedule here). Why not have a picnic on the legislature grounds then take the street car over to explore and shop in Old Strathcona? The river valley is always so beautiful in the fall, and the street car allows you to get a spectacular view of the colourful valley.

If one ride isn't enough, you can charter the street cars for special events like weddings and private parties. They will load everyone up, tell you some historic facts (depending on the volunteers), then park in the middle of the bridge for an unforgettable time with friends. Seriously. How cool?!

Plan your trip before the cars retire after Thanksgiving weekend!
