go :: Designing Downtown

Designing Downtown is an event you shouldn't miss this Saturday.

The first description on their website needs translating. They say: "A vehicle for inter-city exchange and partnerships that advances action to shape downtowns as spaces for everyone."

We say: They are bringing major players in the urban design field from around North America to share their ideas about downtowns with Edmontonians. Hopefully, the conversation about transforming downtown spaces continues long after the evening of inspiring talks is over.

It's pretty exciting to see the Super Saturday MADE, NextGen, and Progress (un)Ltd. have put together:

#Makescape2 starts at 3pm, Centennial Plaza (the usually inactive space behind Stanley Milner Library) will be home to food, drink, films, and forward thinkers. Stop by before you head indoors at the Winspear Centre for...

Pecha Kucha Night 17

In its fanciest venue yet, this will be a PKN for the history books. The ten speakers will be held to the ordinary, challenging format (20 slides, 20 seconds per slide), but these speakers are all extraordinary movers and shakers from cities like San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, and more. All of them will share their insight for answering the question: "How do we shape our urban cores as spaces for everyone?"

Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7:30pm after some drinks and activities in the Winspear foyer.
