Lights

Candy Cane Lane opens this weekend! Running until January 2 from 4-10pm nightly along 148 Street from 92 Ave to 100 Ave. The best way is by walking, but you can also drive or book a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Bring a donation for the food bank!

Festival of Light promises to dazzle the whole family from Dec 6-15 (5-10pm). Artistic light installations, skating, hot chocolate, and more helps celebrate the new Edmonton Valley Zoo entrance and wander path.

ETS will take you on Christmas Lights Tours through Candy Cane Lane, Alberta Legislature and more. Tickets are selling fast - buy tickets in advance.

More Happenings

A pop-up shop of handmade leather handbags from the Netherlands will be in Coup Garment Boutique Friday-Sunday. Preview some of the bags before heading to the shop (quantities are limited!).

This warms our heart: Help Portrait is a world-wide initiative that gives individuals, couples, and families free professional portraits. Hairstylists and makeup artists are there for touch ups before professional photographers snap away. A print is given, and digital files can be put on a disc or emailed so you can share with your family. Saturday's event is at Trinity Lutheran Fellowship Hall (10014-81 Ave) from 11am-4pm. 

More than a dozen local designers are gathering for Edmonton Design Show from Saturday to December 13. The showcase of furniture and product design will be at a studio at 9911-72 Avenue. RSVP for the opening night and find more info here.

Butterdome Craft Sale is at the University of Alberta from Thursday to Sunday. Over 240 makers of all sorts make this giant craft sale a pre-Christmas tradition. More info here.

Luminaria is a breathtaking display of thousands of candles lighting the Kurimoto Japanese Garden at Devonian Botanic Garden on Saturday and Sunday (5-9pm). Stroll through the garden, sip hot apple cider and enjoy a capella singers. More info here.
