There is something for everyone this season when it comes to nail polish - classic reds, deep blues and emeralds, shiny and sparkly, or matte and subdued. Here are the Fall/Winter 2013 nail trends in a nutshell:

    1. Almost Black - These shades are so dark, they look like black from a distance. It can be blood red, deep navy, emerald, or violet. Just keep it dark. Shown: Lancome - Rouge Reglisse (The Bay)
    2. Matte Finish - Some colour collections have matte finish shades, but it's easiest to buy a matte top coat to take the shine away from any of your favourite polish colours. Shown: OPI Matte Top Coat (Sephora)
    3.  Neutrals - We don't mean just gray. These shades can have a lot of character, but they all make you question whether it's a warm or cool shade. Shown: Formula X for Sephora - Virtuoso (Sephora)
    4. Glitter - Stick to one colour family or mix it up with multi-colour flakes. Either way, the chunkier the better. Shown: Deborah Lippmann - Lady Sings the Blues (Holt Renfrew or Sephora)
    5. Metallics - Cheery pastels, dark and stormy shades, or classic medal-winning colours. Doesn't matter, as long as the finish is smooth and metallic. Shown: Essie - For the Twill of it (London Drugs)
