style :: New Year, New Colour

Each January the design world eagerly waits for the release of the Pantone Colour of the Year which sets the tone for colour trends in fashion, beauty, and home décor industries. This year Pantone announced the 2014 colour of the year as Radiant Orchid – a colour they describe as an “enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones”.  This lilac hue is light and feminine, with the added bonus of looking smashing on all skin tones. Here are a few ways you can incorporate Radiant Orchid into your 2014.

Flaunt some Radiant Orchid in your makeup repertoire

Adding a pop of this fun and flirty colour into your beauty bag is an easy way to wear this colour trend. From lips, to eyes, to nails – you can’t go wrong with this pinky-purple tone.

Add a touch of feminine flare to your wardrobe

The simplest way to wear a colour trend is to make a subtle statement – and accessories are a great way to incorporate this whimsical colour into your daily look. Think bangles, earrings, a scarf or bag – you’ll be sure to turn heads by adding this soft and sweet touch.

Let the purple hue take bloom in your home

Infusing some violet to your home will freshen up your living space and add instant style. If Radiant Orchid is the colour for you, why not go big and let it take over a wall in one of your rooms (divine floral wallpaper anyone?).  For those who don’t want to make too big of a commitment, some lilac accents will also do the trick.
