City and Dale delivers the best in fun, fashion, food, culture and wellness. Founded in 2009 by Kendall Barber, City and Dale started as website devoted to delighting in the fine city of Edmonton. The team has expanded to include Gillian, Callie, Jenifer and other contributors. All writers are based-in Edmonton, Alberta, but are frequently globetrotting to far away places to bring you the best in travel, lifestyle and food.

Meet the Team

Fueled by strong coffee, curiosity and an insatiable desire to share hidden gems, our writers scour Edmonton and beyond to bring you the very best in style, eats, fun and happenings. Meet the gals who make City and Dale happen:

Kendall Barber, Founder
Kendall is a writer and blogger who covers fashion, food, fitness, lifestyle and travel. When she's not scouring the streets globe for chic finds to share, she's likely training for a marathon, sipping coffee with her husband or jetting off for the weekend (hello: Barcelona, New York, Paris). Kendall is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Poppy Barley Made to Measure Footwear and running a rockin’ optical store called eye-bar. Follow her on Twitter, send an email or see what inspires her on Pinterest.

Gillian Thomson, Writer
A prairie gal from the start, Gillian knows the importance of a heavy-duty lip moisturizer and a cozy, cashmere scarf. While Gillian is often described as clever, funny and creative; she’s just downright interesting. She’s got a degree in chemistry; is a certified hair stylist; and now spends her time doing graphic design and writing. Aside from City and Dale, she's introducing us to interesting Edmontonians on The Noteworthy. Follow Gillian on Twitter or send her an email.

Jenifer Schaefer, CityandBaby.com
Jenifer is a mother of two little ones with the uncompromising need to get out of the house, meet new people and have fun. She approaches each day as an adventure and loves sharing. This zest for life has accumulated into CityandBaby.com where she celebrates Edmonton’s unique events, fun activities, great shopping, baby-friendly businesses and product must-haves from a mommy point of view. When not out-and-about  Edmonton, you’ll find Jenifer drinking lattes; dancing up a storm; chatting about architecture and UrbanHaus with her hubby; staying-up-to-date via her iPad; and, of course, playing with her daughters. Follow Jen on Twitter or send her an email.

Callie Derksen, Contributor
As a public relations gal and communications consultant, Callie brings creativity – plus a refined palate – to City and Dale. She has a passion for health, wellness and food which is reflected in her position at Revive Wellness Inc. as well as her own food blog. Callie delights in the creative culture of Edmonton (from great writers, bloggers, photographers... to the arts scene and festivals) and encourages collaboration. Connect with Callie through Twitter, or email and see what inspires her on Pinterest.

Salina Yara Halabi, Contributor
Salina is bonafide jet setter, splitting her time between Edmonton, Arizona, and around the globe. When she's not writing about fashion and happenings on City and Dale, she's interviewing home improvement stars and sharing her love for interior design in other publications. Salina swears she was a Phoenician in a past life because she's crazy about classics and the ancient world. Send her an email or see what she's up to on Twitter.

Kassey Koumarelas, Contributor
Kassey is a mom on the go who loves sharing her Edmonton discoveries on City and Dale. With her adorable baby girl in tow, Kassey is always looking for new restaurants, shops and fashionable hideaways in the city. Her special, worrisome talent: being able to consume a 725g jar of Nutella in less than a week. Reach out to Kassey via email or follow along with her on her personal blog.

Breanne Kshyk, Contributor
Breanne is a photographer and writer sharing her wine and sommelier discoveries on City and Dale. When she’s not procrastinating by watching acoustic covers on YouTube, she’s exploring the city with her camera in hand. Her favourite thing about Edmonton: if you’re willing to work hard and put yourself out there, people respond positively and support you wholeheartedly. You can get in touch with Breanne through her website or twitter.
